The A/O process is a more common nitrogen and phosphorus removal process in sewage treatment, which has the advantages of mature operation experience and simple management and maintenance.
The main features of the process are as follows:
◆The process is simple, there are few structures, and the infrastructure cost is greatly saved.
◆When the C/N of raw sewage is high (>4), no additional carbon source is required, and the organic matter in the raw sewage is used as the carbon source, which ensures sufficient denitrification and reduces operating costs.
◆After the aerobic tank is set in the hypoxic pool, the organic matter remaining by denitrification can be further removed.
◆The process operates under low sludge load and long sludge age, so the amount of residual sludge is small.
◆The size of the mixture reflux ratio directly affects the denitrification rate of the system, and the denitrification rate is generally 70%~80%.
